New JVFD Photographs
September 29, 2006
Photographer Carlos Garcia recently stopped by Station 1 and asked if he could take a few pictures. Of course the crew on duty (B shift) said that would be fine. What you see to the left is one of the photos to come out of that day. The photographs are beautiful and unique, and we are enjoying them very much. Check out the ‘photo‘ page for the rest of the pictures and thanks again Carlos for allowing us to share the photos on the site.Â
Vehicle / House Collision
September 21, 2006
‘A’ shift firefighters from station 1 responded to a “car vs. car vs. house” just before midnight on September 20th. Engine 34 arrived on scene to find a Camero that had collided with an Oldsmobile that was parked in the driveway of a residential structure. The impact of the collision forced the Olds into the house, knocking away masonry and causing damage to the structure.Â
Fire Prevention Week
September 21, 2006
Fire Prevention Week commemorates the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, the tragic conflagration that killed more than 250 people, left 100,000 homeless, and destroyed more than 17,400 structures.
The 2006 campaign focuses on teaching families and kids how to keep cooking fires from starting in the first place.
