Kitchen Fire For B Shift

Water OakB shift firefighters responded to a house fire on the evening of January 31st. First arriving Engine 34 from Station One found light smoke initially and extinguished a small fire in the kitchen area. Second arriving Engine 38 from Station 2 arrived quickly and began to assist Engine 34. What initially appeared as a contained kitchen fire did extend some into the attic above the kitchen. Helping Our Armed Services

Marine / STAR Flight Training Firefighters from the JVFD hosted a group of Marines today at Fire Station 2. The Marines were participants in a class on basic first aid, cpr, and class showing how to package an injured individual for transport. Several of the members of the class will be going to Iraq in just a few months to begin a tour of service. ‘A’ shift Station 2 firefighters and volunteers assisted with the class as well as members of Austin Fire Department Engine 21. Most fatal home fires start when you are asleep and least prepared. Family members die when discovery is delayed and exits become blocked with smoke and heat. According to recent statistics, smoke is the major cause of all fire related deaths. Read more

Recreational Vehicle Fire Damages House

Calcite RV / House FireB Shift firefighters managed frigid temperatures the night of January 13th to control a fire in a recreational vehicle that spread to a nearby house. Firefighters from Jollyville Stations 1 and 2, as well as several volunteer firefighters and Chief Kiracofe responded with units from Austin, Cedar Park, Travis County EMS, Williamson County EMS, and Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.
