Helping Our Armed Services
January 27, 2007
Firefighters from the JVFD hosted a group of Marines today at Fire Station 2. The Marines were participants in a class on basic first aid, cpr, and class showing how to package an injured individual for transport. Several of the members of the class will be going to Iraq in just a few months to begin a tour of service. ‘A’ shift Station 2 firefighters and volunteers assisted with the class as well as members of Austin Fire Department Engine 21.
The department also provided lunch for the Marines. Just after lunch, A/TCEMS STAR Flight came to teach techniques for rapid removal of injured patients, as well as familiarization with medivac helicopters.
The class was an honor for us and we wish these Marines a speedy return and hope they stay safe.

Got something to say?

Thanks a million to everybody who helped me out with this. The Marines were really appriciatitive for everything.
I was one of the attendees (one of the few not deploying this time around,) and I can not thank you all enough for your time and effort in putting these classes together.
Be safe.
