Quick Stop Saves Apartment Building
May 28, 2007
‘B’ shift firefighters were awakened at approximately 5:00 AM on Saturday the 26th to investigate an apartment on fire on Mellow Meadow Drive, across the street from Westwood High School.
Station 2 firefighters arrived within a few minutes and found a serious fire inside a downstairs corner apartment. The resident of the apartment was outside, and the crew from Engine 38 pulled a line and quickly entered the apartment. A quick knockdown and quick overhaul showed only slight extension outside of the original apartment.
Units from Jollyville, Sam Bass, Cedar Park, and Austin were on scene just over 2 hours cleaning up and ensuring that there were no hidden fires. Residents of 3 apartments were displaced (smoke damage).
