B Shift House Fire
March 20, 2008
B Shift firefighters from both stations and the volunteer ranks were called to a house fire near Cahill at Pond Springs. E38 arrived on scene just ahead of E34 to find a 2 story house with heavy fire showing from the first and second floors extending into the attic.
Auto aid companies from Cedar Park, Sam Bass, and Austin all assisted at the scene. The fire was brought under control in approximately 25 minutes.
Haz-Mat Alarm For ‘B’ Shift

‘B’ Shift firefighters from both stations responded to a local test facility for a Haz-Mat alarm recently. Firefighters were originally advised that the fire alarm was going off. Further calls to 911 led dispatchers to upgrade the alarm to a Hazardous Materials incident.
First due Engine 37 requested assistance from Chief Quinlan, Lt. Johnson, who were at Station 1, and Chief Herrin of the Williamson County HMRT. After discussion, it was decided to call for a few extra techs from Cedar Park.
Units from Williamson County EMS responded to assess 5 occupants who were complaining of minor symptoms. Ultimately, none of them requested transport to a hospital. Williamson County Sheriff’s Deputy’s as well as representatives from Williamson County Communications also responded to assist.

After approximately 4 hours of testing and containment, the building was turned back over to the occupants and units were returned to service.
Structure Fire In Sam Bass
January 5, 2008
B shift firefighters in the midst of a staff meeting were called out to help in the Sam Bass district with a house fire. First arriving Truck 2 from Sam Bass reported smoke showing and initiated an aggressive interior attack. The fire was fast moving and was found to be in the crawl space between the first and second floors as well as in the attic by the time Jollyville Engine 38 arrived. Jollyville acted as the RIC Team and a unit from Cedar Park arrived and assisted the interior operations for a short time before the determination was made to move to a defensive mode of operation. The fire was quickly then contained after a short time using the bucket of Truck 2. After the fire was contained, crew reentered the house to extinguish.
Although there was significant damage to the structure, crews were able to save some family pictures and other sentimental items for the family.
An engine from Austin was special called to the scene, and Round Rock Engine 5 protected the Sam Bass district while crews were on scene.
