If you have old paint or chemicals stored, mark your calendar for Saturday, November 18.

Williamson County has contracted with Philip Reclamation Services Houston, Inc (PSC) to manage a half-day county-wide household hazardous waste collection on the Saturday, November 18, 2006, from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The site of the collection will be the parking lot at the Williamson County Central Maintenance Facility, 3151 S.E. Inner Loop, in Georgetown just south of Highway 29. The event is free and open to all county residents.

PSC is dedicated to managing all materials collected at the event with a “reuse or recycle” first attitude. Many items can be beneficially reused or recycled, and with PSC’s background in recycling worldwide, they can offer outlets to manage most materials in the most environmentally sound way possible. Their experience makes them a valuable partner for Williamson County in this collection.

Household hazardous waste items accepted will include the following: insecticides, herbicides, fertilizers with herbicides, paint, paint thinners, solvents, swimming pool chemicals, mercury containing items, photographic chemicals and florescent bulbs. This is a household collection so no commercial/industrial/agricultural hazardous waste will be accepted.

Williamson County Precinct 4 Commissioner Frankie Limmer and his staff of Pete Correa, executive assistant, and Dorothy Fischer, administrative aide, are the managers of this event for Williamson County. The last collection was in 2004 and approximately 600 households participated. Please call Pete or Dorothy if you have any questions, at 512-352-4111 or 238-2110 or e-mail questions to flimmer@wilco.org.
