Jollyville Fire Station

In 1975, Jollyville Fire Department’s first “station” was a metal shack on Pond Springs Road, on land donated by a caring community member, that was little more than a cover for the fire truck.

During the early 1980’s, Fire Station Two was added in the Anderson Mill subdivision to address continued growth in that neighborhood. Station Two was initially a two bay station with a small office for the Chief and a Williamson County Tax Office in the back of the building. As time passed it grew to include a third bay, sleeping quarters and living quarters for career firefighters and administrative offices for the Chief and one Assistant Chief. The station served the community for over 30 years and closed in 2010 after the City of Austin annexed the neighborhood.

In the early 1990’s, Station One was re-born in the form of a new two bay building around the corner from the original 1975 building. The new red and gray building featured a small kitchen and room to grow. Soon, that vision was realized as career firefighters moved in, living quarters were added, and a third bay was added. In 2008, preparation for the inevitable annexation of half of the departments territory began with plans for the consolidation of two stations worth of equipment and personnel into one. As of May 2010, the new Station One is open and operating at 9218 Anderson Mill Road; near the intersection of Pond Springs Road and Anderson Mill.
